are we out of the fast food yet?

He's watching people over the top of his coffee cup, his hand wrapped around it in some attempt to feel a bit warmer. The greasy smell of fried food makes him sick, just like the sight of the kids running around the place like they own it under the pleased smiles of their parents. It makes the employees go crazy, having to stumble and sway all over the place to avoid crushing into them when they're carrying full trays of food. It makes him sick. Not just the smell, even if it makes his stomach clench and his throat feel dry, but the people. It kills him, sometimes, that they have no idea what world they live in - that they have no idea what kind of world they could have lived in if it wasn't for a bunch of scared teenagers with divine blood in their veins. They walk and talk and complain like their lives are terrible, but they have no idea. It makes him want to scream. Instead, he swallows his coffee and burns his tongue. The girl at the counter got his order wrong, there's tons of sugar in his coffee, he hates it. There's probably a reason why they're called Burger King and not Coffee King. A fucking good reason. He's never getting coffee from there ever again. He wasn't even supposed to get in there, he hates the place, he hates fast foods and fries and burgers, the air is disgusting and the people are insufferable. But it was cold, and he needed coffee, and he couldn't find any other place, and he made a mistake. It happens. More often than not. He puts the cup back on the table. Gods, this coffee is terrible. He feels like he's going to throw up. One of the kids makes her toy walk along his table, and he stares at her until she leaves. He doesn't have the patience for this today. And the coffee is disgusting.
He lets himself melt into his seat. His left hand clutches at his right wrist, his fingers searching for the damaged fabric of Jules' old wristband. It takes a few seconds, but his body tenses, and he gets a bit taller as he straighten up in his seat. The wristband is gone. It's like a cold, brutal shower. The wristband is gone. His face is screwed up with worry as he searches the ground, desperation growing inside his chest. Fuck, he can't lose that. It's the last thing he owns that was Jules', a stupid wristband that used to be bright blue. It's not even pretty, it just looks stupid and washed out and it's his and he can't lose it. Fuck. He doesn't really know why he looks at the door when it opens, but the tall silhouette is familiar. He doesn't even think when he gets up and walks and only stops in front of him - there's a girl with him, pretty eyes, long hair, the kind of girl you'd like to draw if you could actually draw something else than a sun in the corner of a piece of paper. "I need your help." He says, voice soft and barely loud enough to be heard over the kids' screams. Loki's a nice guy, he shared his alcohol with him once. It didn't end well, but it wasn't his fault, and they don't talk about it anyway. There's a lot of things Theodore doesn't talk about, he's used to it. "I lost something." He mutters after a few seconds. "I really need it back." There's anxiety in his voice, it's almost palpable, and he feels stupid because it's just a wristband, but it's also his brother's, and he can't leave without it. He can't live without it either. "Please." He adds, because he's being fucking rude, but he can't help it. He stares at the girl, and his face turns a bit red. "Hi. Um... Sorry. About that. Me. About me." He stops talking, his eyes scanning the room. Gods, he hates this place.

Going out with Loki had become quite frequent these days. That was a bit weird. Not that she didn’t like him – well, she didn’t like him, actually – but he had occupied a significant place in her life recently; she was always on a mission with him, always. To be honest, she didn’t even remember when or how he entered into her life, and she probably wasn’t incapable of saying a lot of personal things about him apart from the fact that one of his name was Jacob. They weren’t intimate. They weren’t even friends. She didn’t know what they were.
She looked at him for a second, an eyebrow raised. Why were they even there? Who knew?! Well, leaving the Camp for several hours wouldn’t hurt anybody and, in fact, they could really use that. Or she could really use that. Looking for a distraction was, to her, a life or death situation. Nothing personal. Really, nothing had changed in her life and that was becoming rather… boring. Damn, her life had gotten everything she didn’t want it to be: boring. A distraction could be fun and maybe save her from this nonsense.
A distraction, yeah. With Loki. Another brilliant idea, as you would say. And why not in a fast-food? God, she hated fast-foods. A burger was fine from time to time, but definitely not in a fast-food. They probably hadn’t any health and safety rules in there.
But Loki and her walked through the door without saying much – actually, she was somewhat sulky and trying her best to keep the smile - eternal smile.
She had barely put a foot into the fast-food that a boy appeared out of nowhere in front of her, and Loki, looking at that one. Oh, that wasn’t just a boy; that was Theodore, a friend of Noah’s for what she knew of him, which was, to be said, not much. And Theodore wanted their help. Ok. Why not… What was even happening? She slightly raised an eyebrow. The boy’s thoughts were racing. She didn’t really catch anything at first, so she just looked at him, quite concerned. Theodore wasn’t talking loud – he clearly wasn’t the “loud” type of guy anyway – but he had lost something. Kenna wasn’t sure she understood the situation and turned to Loki then to the boy then to Loki one last time and then again to Theodore, from whom anxiety was palpable. He stared at her for a moment, and blushed – aww, she wanted to adopt him already.
It’s okay.”, she said with a warm tone and a smile. “What have you lost?” There were too much thoughts in the fast-food, too loud, and even if Theodore was really anxious – or perhaps it was because of that – she couldn’t hear anything other than a storm of nervousness in his head. She turned quickly to Loki, “You’re gonna help, right?” She tilted her head. In fact, she wasn’t giving Loki any choice. They were going to help Theodore. That was all.

How to say that without being cheesy... hum.... I have invited Kenna to have a cup of coffee outside of the camp... and she accepted. I say a cup of coffee but when I actually invited her, I don't recall what I was saying. Maybe some babbling once again because when I'm stressed or only being myself, I had a little bit of a tendancy of babbling because I had too much to say and little time to say it. So when she said yes, I make it sound like I was asking her hand, I was really excited. I was making a fool of myself while staying in my cabin and I was not able to take it much longer. I was dying even if I was doing like everything was ok. But it wasn't.

So, she accepted to come with me. A great  event, I should write about it on my personal calender. The day when I got out with beautiful barbie girl And so on and so forth, we arrived to this fast food, I don't really know why I chosed this very place, we could say it was destiny but we entered and then, I decided that it was the time to get a cup of coffee. The whole trip was about that though soooo why not.

When I saw Theodore, I panicked a little. Well, I was scared that he was going to say it all, what happen with the booze and all the emotions that were shown and told that day... Or night, I don't remember. So of course, I reacted with a typical Loki expression : I looked at him with a big smile like he was an old friend  and pat his back, like he was like a kiddo. Seriously Jacob? The hell is wrong with you? I gasped when Kenna looked at me and asked me if I was going to help, like if I was a emotioneless prick. I gave her a glance that said Enough and smiled at Theo, offering to him the cheap coffee in my hand, my cane in the other. « What is it ? Are we supposed to find here or...»   I looked all around me and I had a little grin on my face. Too much people, for the love of the gods.  «Come on now, take some deeps breaths and say everything to daddy Loki and mommy Kenna.»   With a little smile, I looked at the lady. That was to being ruuuuuude

He feels shame burning his cheeks the minute the girl - Kenna, how could he not recognize Kenna ? - speaks. He sort of wants to apologize, but he already did that, and she's probably reading his thoughts. If he wasn't so anxious, on the verge of panicking, really, he would wonder what it'd be like to read other people's thoughts. Awful, probably. He's already uncomfortable with his own thoughts more often than not, whether it's because it's laced with something dark and sad or because he lets them wander in places he doesn't want them to - for a second, Kingsley's face appears in his mind, and he blinks, pushing it back where it belong: anywhere but in his head. Jules' face replaces it, and the anxiety comes back, rushing in his veins. He swallows, it's difficult - emotions tend to make everything difficult - and tries not to let his voice break over a piece of whatever-the-wristband-was-made-of. "It's a... It's stupid, I'm sorry, it's a wristband. It was my brother's, it's... It's not worth anything and it's not even pretty, but it's mine and it was his and I need it back." He almost says it like a question, and he never speaks that much in one go, but it's an unusual situation. Loki's already looking around, and just that makes relief wash all over Theodore. It's childish, he knows it, and he feels like a kid moaning at his parents because he can't find his favorite toy. The logical part of his brains tries to remind him that he can't possibly find anything when he's panicking like this, but he still feels so stupid. Worse, he feels small. Even something as simple as looking for a wristband seems like something he can't do alone. He can't seem to do anything on his own but sulk and feel sad. He represses the need to close his eyes. Loki's talking, and he's forcing a smile, because he's obviously not the only one thinking he's acting like a child. He tries not to let it get to him - you're fucking twenty-two, get your shit together, Brennan - and stares at them, eyes wide open. He probably looks like some crazy idiot. He'll add that to the list of things he hates about himself. "I don't know if I actually lost it here. I.. I can't remember the last time I saw it. I always wear it, I didn't notice until.. Well, until now." He sighs, his voice tight with anxiety. He looks at Kenna - gods, she's so pretty it's distracting, if he could draw he'd want to fill entire notebooks with just her face. "I'm sorry if I'm interrupting... something." He says something with hesitation, because he doesn't want to assume - plus, who would go on a date in a fast-food? Loki is probably more classy than that. "I don't want to keep you away from any plans, or anything."

KENNA & THEODORE & LOKI
and may you always stop
to help someone along the way

24 janvier 2017 - Well, she was in the middle of two anxious boys. One who wasn’t hiding it, and the other who was trying to with a smile – but hey, it’s difficult to fool a telepath if you don’t have a mental shield or something like that (people with that power are such a relief but also a frustration). It was all right: she could have supported mountains if she had to, two anxious boys was nothing. Anyway, she wanted to help – because obviously Theodore needed help. The boy was… lost, and she didn’t mean physically. She could hear his thoughts – anxious, quick images, and a lot of self-depreciation too.
Sometimes, she wanted to be able to extract those thoughts out of people. It wasn’t just because she was the daughter of Aphrodite, and so the daughter of love, but she really believed that everyone should be positive about themselves, love themselves, assume themselves.
It’s okay.”, she repeated to reassure Theodore. Really, it was. She wasn’t going to judge him or whatever he thought she was going to do – and with the thoughts Loki had when he recognized Theodore (thoughts that, honestly, she didn’t really understood but she wasn’t going to say anything about that in any case), she knew Loki wasn’t going to judge him either.
The thing they were now looking for was a wristband. His brother’s wristband, in fact. Loki was already looking around; Kenna was hoping they had found it here. A wristband. It could have slipped under the tables, the feet of the people’s here; maybe it had gone under the trashcans, maybe someone had kicked it, stepped on it, anything. Any way, they would find it. She wouldn’t stop until then.
She was so focused on helping Theodore that she forgot to reply to Loki’s smiles and little comments. Well, almost. « Be serious, Forester, we’re on a mission. » A mission, totally.
Theodore’s word were always full of nervousness and a clear loss of self-esteem. Ah, she just wanted to give him a hug, but she had learned that sometimes it was not exactly the type of thing to do to someone who wasn’t... well, open to hugs. So Kenna smiled, again, because she is still a hundred percent sure the wristband was somewhere there. « Don’t worry, we’ll find it. »
Theodore, again, made himself smaller than he was, always apologizing, this time for apparently interrupting something. « It’s fine, plans change. » She was serious. She wasn’t exactly sure it was a date, to be honest, like Theodore was thinking. She accepted a coffee with Loki but... no, she was at kilometers of thinking it could have been a date. She was at kilometers of thinking anything like that with Loki, at least. She hadn’t made her mind about it.
She pinched Theodore’s shoulder softly before walking away from the two boys, on her way to a group of people eating their burgers. All smile. Always all smile. If that didn’t work, she could always use her persuasion power (it was most a seduction thing, actually but hey, almost same results; we could say that if she wanted something done, she could suggest and convince it to people if she wanted to). « Sorry to interrupt but... I’ve lost a wristband here. » She described it briefly. Yes, it wasn’t her wristband, but she didn’t want to bring all attention on Theodore - he didn’t need that. « ... so if you find it, can you tell me ? It would be nice. And yeah, sorry for interrupting again. Have a good day! » The more they were to search for it, the more chances they had to find it ! Maybe those people would also talk about it to other people and... you see. She smiled at them again, then went back to Loki and Theodore, taking the long way to look at the floor, in case the wristband was there. It wasn’t when she arrived at the boys’ level, but she wasn’t going to give up yet.
« Where were you? I mean, which table? Maybe it’s under it. » she asked, looking at Theodore. Then, staring at the two of them. « Does anyone else want a milkshake ? I kinda want a milkshake. » There was nothing better than a milkshake to keep going. She probably looked like a child, excited and almost bouncing on place, but she loved milkshakes. There was something to it. A strawberry one, she would choose - damn, she loved strawberries, it was the most difficult thing to not pick and eat some of them when she was selling them with Noah at the New York market (in fact, that was there she first met Theodore, for your information).
